Celebrations will begin with the climax of the "You Are My River" competition. Organised by the Ministry of the Environment and Spatial Planning in partnership with Coca Cola HBC Slovenia, young people were invited to create adverts about the importance of protecting rivers and water conservation. The Environment Minister, Dr. Roko Žarnić, will present prizes for the most creative entries at the awards ceremony on the 31st May. Prizes will also be awarded to NGOs for projects concerning water issues.

Ljubljana: Coca-Cola Happiness Tour (28 June 2010)
The Coca-Cola Happiness Tour is coming to Ljubljana during Slovenia's Danube Day celebrations. Coca-Cola Happiness Scouts are touring the globe, asking people "What makes you happy?". The results have been used to create a global "Happiness Barometer"! As part of the study, Darja Stanic Head of the Water Department of the Ministry of Environment and Spatial Planning Ministry will be interviewed on happiness and the Danube Rivers. Results from 16 countries indicate that spending time with loved ones is a great source of joy and the most important factor in making people feel happy worldwide. Feeling connected with others in the Danube Basin is an important message of Danube Day. So join with others across the Danube Basin, bring along your friends and family, and celebrate Danube Day in Slovenia! More information on the Happiness Barometer is available at: Coca-Cola Happiness Barometer.
Danube Art Master schools competition (ongoing)
Artistic creativity will be flowing for the Danube rivers, with the search to find the young Danube Art Master for Slovenia. This international schools contest, now in its 7th year, is overseen by the Danube Environmental Forum. Children are invited to create sculptures made of natural materials to express what the river means to them. Organised in Slovenia by the Society for Bird Research and Nature Protection (DPPVN) and the Ministry of the Environment and Spatial Planning, the competition informs both children and teachers about the Danube rivers and the need to preserve water and the natural environment. It's time to get artistic, let your creativity go wild and enter the Danube Art Master competition! If you need some ideas, check out the Inspiration page. To find out how you can enter the competition, please contact Milan Vogrin of the DPPVN/DEF on +386 41 699 268; email: milan [dot] vogrin [at] guest [dot] arnes [dot] si
