Glodeni, Riscani and Edinets will mark Danube Day with activities to interest everyone: from public festivities to professional meetings; art competitions to cross-border cultural activities. Covering both local and international aspects, Danube Day will celebrate, and plan for, a sustainable future for the region.

Danube Art Master schools competition (ongoing)

The event will see the culmination of Moldova's 2008 search for its young Danube Art Master. Part of a basin-wide event, pupils are invited to let their creativity run wild and make a piece of environmental art inspired by their river. Children are encouraged to think about how the river can continue to be used without detriment to the people and wildlife that rely on it. The talented winners will present their creations at the Prut River Festival.

Padurea Domneasca: Meeting on sustainable development (28 May 2008; 15:30 - 17:00)

The rest of the day will be devoted to a meeting to discuss the sustainable development of the Padurea Domneasca Protected Area.

Danube Photo Competition (until 15 September 2008)

Enter the basin-wide Danube Photographic Competition, organised by the International Friends of Nature, and your work could be exhibited at the UN Headquarters in Vienna and toured across the Danube countries.
