Exciting, educational and fun events are being planned for June 29th in Croatia including an international schools art competition and a link-up with the Vukovar Film Festival.

Vukovar Film Festival (9-13 July 2008)
Among the highlights this year is a collaboration with the Vukovar Film Festival. As part of the festival, a "Danube Photo Exhibition: From Source to Delta" will promote Danube Day and connect young Vukovar residents with the multitude of peoples living in the Danube Basin.
Danube Art Master schools competition (until 31 May 2008)
The Danube Art Master competition will once again be inviting pupils to let their creativity run wild and make a piece of art inspired by their river. This basin-wide event encourages children to think and act for the Danube rivers. This year's competition is being run by Green Osijek and the Zlatna Greda Eco Centre. Most entries will be through visits to the Zlatna Greda Eco Centre and the 'Schools in Nature' programme, so participants will be able to create their artworks in situ - by the Danube or in the Kopački rit Nature Park. Anyone else interested in entering should send a digital photograph of their work to zeleni-osijek [at] os [dot] t-com [dot] hr (Green Osijek) (see below).
Danube Photo Competition (until 15 September 2008)
Enter the basin-wide Danube Photographic Competition, organised by the International Friends of Nature, and your work could be exhibited at the UN Headquarters in Vienna and toured across the Danube countries.
Greet the Danube ship blast (29 June 2008; 14:00)
The sound of ship horns will reverberate across the Danube Basin at 14:00 on Danube Day, as Danube workers pay a very special tribute to their river. The annual Greet the Danube horn blast will see ships along the Danube from Germany to Ukraine simultaneously sound their horns in a salute to the rivers.
