Hungary's seventh Danube Day is being celebrated all along the Danube, with the main event in Budapest: a discussion forum for the key Danube decision-makers, taking place onboard a panaramic Danube river cruiser. Budapest is also a stop-over for a very different kind of river tour, which will see a 35m artwork created and transported the length of the Danube. Read on to find out more about these and other events (in Hungarian and English).

Budapest: Danube decision-makers forum & cruise (28 June; 19:00-22:00)
Over 100 key Danube decision-makers from the government, local authorities, NGOs, institutes and business will gather for an evening cruise of the Danube as it flows through the capital. The event will be an important opportunity to discuss the key issues facing the Danube rivers in Hungary and across the Basin, with a focus on cities and nature. It will also mark the start of a campaign to highlight the Danube Regional Strategy in the run-up to Hungary's first presidency of the EU next year, during which water issues will be high on the agenda.
The program is organized by MOME line - design works; see: www.ourdanube.com.

Budapest: Arrival of the Danubian Scroll (26-28 June 2010)
As part of an international arts project, a Danubian Scroll is being paddled in canoes through eight countries from the Danube's source near Donaueschingen, Germany to the Black Sea in Romania. Paddling the almost 3000 km is a group of international artists, who are painting the scroll along the way. The 26th June will see the tour reach Budapest, where local artists are invited to add to the 35 metre-long scroll, expressing their personal connection with the Danube. A special event will take place in front of the MŰPA Palace of Arts (1015 Budapest Komor Marcell u. 1.) on 27-28th June to welcome the scroll to Budapest. To find out more, contact Levente Kardos or Roland Simon of the Municipality of the City of Budapest on +361 3271541 or +361 3271075 and see the Danubian Scroll web site.
