Danube Day 2010 is bursting with inspiring events in all 14 major Danube

The scale of Danube Day is huge, with ambitious basin-wide events;
cross-border activities; high profile national events; regional
celebrations and village festivities. The programme includes festivals;
conferences; competitions; aquatic adventures; awareness
raising actions; river clean-ups and fun youth events. So come along and
get active for your river!

International and cross-border events
Danube Day unites the whole Danube Basin in celebration, fostering friendships between Danube countries and people. International Danube events in 2010 include:

Danube Art Master Schools Competition: A creative challenge to all the children of the Danube Basin (organised by the Danube Environmental Forum). More...

Danubian Scroll: Being paddled in a canoe along the entire length of the Danube, a huge 35m artwork is being created by international artists at stopovers along the way. More...

UNDP-GEF workshop on integrated land and water management in the Upper Tisza (25-26 June 2010): Dilove in western Ukraine is the location for a joint Ukrainian-Romanian workshop on land and water management in the Tisza Basin. See the Ukraine country page for more details.

International Regatta in Serbia (25 June - 4th July): Teams from Austria, Croatia, Slovenia, Russia, Macedonia and Serbia compete in a 10-day international regatta from Zemun to Golubac (via Smederevo and Veliko Gradiste). Danube Fish United!: Whichever team you're supporting in this year's Football World Cup, join us in supporting "Danube Fish United" on its Danube Basin tour - the best swimmers in the Basin. A huge flag depicting 14 Danube fish, each one in the colours of one of the 14 Danube countries, will be passed from country to country, starting with a handover from Ukraine to Romania on June 27th. Danube Box: an interactive education kit for schools developed by the ICPDR and expert educators with support from Coca-Cola. 10,000 kits have been produced and national versions have been downloaded 9000 times from www.danubebox.org. Available in English and in versions for Austria, Hungary, Germany and Romania, a new version for Bulgaria will be launched on Danube Day and the Serbian version will be on-line from September 2010.

Waters Unite Canoe Tour (26 June - 1 July): a 150 km canoe marathon through Hungary, Croatia and Serbia, visiting floodplain forest and wetlands en route. See www.bitebaja.hu for more information. Esemény részletei és helyszín térkép
These events inspire people, communities and countries to work together across borders. They encourage people to look beyond their national boundaries and consider the multitude of peoples living in the Danube Basin. Across the region, governmental, non-governmental and private sector organisations are working together to make the seventh Danube Day the best yet.
